Asphyxia




ASPHYXIA (a priv., _____, a pulse), a term in medicine which, though literally signifying loss of pulsation, is applied to describe the arrestment of the function of respiration from some hindrance to the entrance of air into the lungs. (See PHYSIOLOGY and MEDICAL JURISPRUDENCE.)
